 Dillon Harrison – Organic versus Non-Organic Agriculture  Aaron Pacheco – Ethics of Meat Consumption  Priscila Olague – Genetically Modified Organisms  Christopher Owens – Genetically Modified Organisms

 Animal testing behind the products we use every day  The real cost behind the items consumers buy

 In the beginning, we hoped to reach as many people as possible but saw it wouldn’t work  Our PSA was specifically tailored towards those who had never considered animal cruelty as a part of product development

 Conventions of the genre included concise argument, solid information, and a logical solution presented through textual, visual, and auditory cues  Emotional, simple to understand dialogue played a major role

 We considered several topics before arriving at animal testing  Our topics all shared an ethical component  After conducting initial research, we concluded animal testing would be not only a good common ground but a worthwhile topic

 Maintaining consistency as well as good contrast  Designing motion and transition for the assets  Deciding how emotional the content in the PSA would be (choosing content)  How information would be communicated (text vs. narration)  Managing time

 Stage 1 › Describe animal testing  Stage 2 › In light of the facts we provide, question the very existence of animal testing  Stage 3 › Advocate for change and provide a solution

 We did not want to base our arguments on emotional appeals, we believed a logical approach to be more effective  Title sequence seeks to associate household items with animal testing  Image assets depict the horrors of animal testing  Final slides contain the names of actual companies associated with animal testing and refer the audience to a place where they can find further information  Visual look followed the conventions of a PSA

 Solid information  Statistical facts provided  Images support our points  Attempted professionalism

 Imagery › Depict animal suffering  Physical  Mental  Diction › Extensive use of language carrying a negative connotation  Music › Sorrowful, reflecting what we believe the animal’s feelings to be

 People should exercise their power as a consumer and boycott animal testing companies  A company cannot function without customers. A boycott would force them to make changes according to what the public wants.

 Problem: Animal testing is unethical and forms part of many of the products we use every day  Solution: Become informed as to companies that conduct animal testing and boycott them, sending a message of change
