SRJC's Work Experience Department offers General Work Experience (WRKEX 97) courses Occupational Work Experience (99) courses Internship (99i) courses Community Involvement (CI) courses Apprenticeship courses are offered through partnerships with local providers. As a Work Experience student, your jobsite is your classroom

Students learn to apply 21st century skills, also known as " soft skills," in a work environment. Soft skills include teamwork, effective communication, time management, adaptability, and problem solving. The skills you learn in a Work Experience course will help you to become the kind of employee employers want to hire, retain, and promote.

WHAT TO EXPECT Work Experience students are assigned an instructor who provides one-on- one instruction, meeting with you and your supervisor at your jobsite near the beginning and end of each semester. You will develop learning objectives in collaboration with your job supervisor. Your Assigned Instructor will be available to answer any questions that you may have and will support your success throughout the semester.

ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENT: Student must be employed by a licensed business for the duration of the semester for the minimum number of hours required based on number of units enrolled. COURSE REQUIREMENTS: Complete orientation and submit Orientation Credit Form 10 points Develop and complete 4 on-the-job learning objectives 80 points Responsiveness and interaction with Assigned Instructor 15 points Write a 3-page student report 25 points Complete 4 hours of work-related seminars or activities 20 points Total Possible Points: 150 points

Difference Between General Work Experience & Occupational Work Experience Courses For General Work Experience, a student can be employed by any licensed business. To qualify for Occupational Work Experience, a student's job must be related to his/her declared college major
