THE AFRICAN RAINFOREST BY ALYSSA GAUTHIER

What is causing the rainforests of Africa to disappear? What percent of the rainforests are already gone? 90% is gone because of deforestation, slash- burn and construction.

What is the name of some of the tribes that lived in the rainforest? What are some of their customs? Pygmies is the tribe. They are eco friendly.

Animals they get meat from. Chimps, gorillas, snakes, baka snares, manioc, small antelope, fish, buffalo and cane rats.

Four animals African elephant weighs between 7000 and 9000 lbs. African grey parrot is one of the most talkative parrots in the world. Black Columbus monkey is one of the most endangered monkeys in the world. Pigmy hippo is 5ft 718 lbs.

Plants used for goods. Mahogany is used for flooring, boats and houses.

Climates in rainforest The average temp is 80 degrees and really humid they get around 63 to 79 inches each year.

Countries with rainforests in them Burndi, Cameroon, African rep, cote d’ Ivore, bongo Brazzaville, guinea, Ghana equatorial guinea, Liberia, Nigeria, Congo Kinshasa, Rwanda and Sierra Leone.

Cutting down trees Mainly for logging companies.

vegetation Oil palm used for making iron plates, candles, soap, chocolate and other goods. It makes up roughly 17% of the oils in the world. Mahogany is used for making staircases, boats, houses, flooring and paneling. Okoume is found in central Africa. It is very light weight and makes up 90% of trees there.
