 What are context clues?? Context clues are bits of information from the text that, when combined with prior knowledge, allow you to decide the meaning of unknown words in the story or article you are reading. that, when combined with prior knowledge, allow you to decide the meaning of unknown words in the story or article you are reading.

 What are word roots?  A root is the basic element of a word, and it is the foundation on which the meaning of a word is built.  geo is the root that means earth in the example geology which means the study of the earth

 What is a prefix?  What is a suffix?  Add (something) at the beginning as a prefix or introduction  anti- opposing  re- again  A morpheme (word part) added at the end of a word  -able comfortable  -hood brotherhood

 What are available resources?  Depends where you are:  Dictionary: book or online  Thesaurus: use synonyms and antonyms to help you identify word meaning  Ask a teacher of a classmate

 Why Read??  Exposure to new vocabulary words will help you to build your own vocabulary so keep reading, keep using your resources and keep building your vocabulary!!!
