INGREDIENTS 1 CUP FLOWER 2 TSP SUGAR ½ TSP SALT ½ TSP BAKING POWDER ¼ TSP BAING SODA ¾ CUP BUTTERMILK ¼ CUP MILK 1 LARGE EGG 2 TBSP BUTTER VEGETABLE OIL (FOR BRUSHING GRIDDLE)

STEP: 1 MIX THE DRY INGREDIENTS. PHYSICAL OR CHEMICAL? THIS IS A PHYSICAL CHANGE BECAUSE IT IS A MIXTURE. IT HASN'T BEEN HEATED OR COOLED THEREFORE IS NOT A CHEMICAL CHANGE. IT HAS NOT CREATED A NEW SUBSTANCE.

STEP: 2 COMBINE WET INGREDIENTS WITH DRY ALL AT ONCE. WHISK UNTIL WELL MIXED PHYSICAL OR CHEMICAL? THIS IS A PHYSICAL CHANGE BECAUSE IT CREATES A MIXTURE. IT HAS NOT CREATED A NEW SUBSTANCE.

STEP 3 MELT BUTTER IN HOT GRIDDLE PHYSICAL OR CHEMICAL? THIS IS A PHYSICAL CHANGE. THE HEAT FROM THE PAN IS MELTING THE BUTTER THEREFORE CHANGING THE STATE OF MATTER FROM SOLID TO LIQUID.

STEP 4 POUR BATTER ABOUT ¼ CUP AT A TIME ONTO THE GRIDDLE. WHEN THE BOTTOM IS BROWNED, AND THE TOP IS BUBBLING, FLIP THE PANCAKE. CONTINUE UNTIL BOTH SIDES ARE COOKED TO PERFECTION. PHYSICAL OR CHEMICAL? THIS IS A CHEMICAL CHANGE BECAUSE BUBBLING INDICATES A CHEMICAL REACTION. THE BUBBLES ARE A RESULT OF THE MIXTURE OF SOUR MILK/ BUTTERMILK, BAKING POWDER, AND BAKING SODA. THIS CREATES A CHEMICAL REACTION.
