PASSIVE HOUSE SANTORSO (VI) ITALY

UNDERFLOOR TANKS In order to have an eco- building there are underfloor tanks to collect rainwater which is filtered and used in the showers and toilets. Instead in the sink and washbasins potable water is used and drunk.

INSULATION The house is well insulated by using glass wool which makes a break between the outside and the inside. So you don’t have to use a heating system because the warm air remains inside and the cold air doesn’t enter the house. On the basement they also used panels made of smashed bottle glass. Moreover in the roof there are solar panels and photovoltaic panels which contribute to reduce the energy costs and also maintain the eco-sustainability of the house.

Panels of smashed bottles

VENTILATION SYSTEM The backup heating is distribuited all around the house through the ventilation system because there is no underfloor heating or radiators in the house VENTILATION SYSTEM

WINDOWS To maintain the heating inside, the house has triple layer windows which contribute to create an airtight envelope. Also the windows are above all oriented to the south, east and west, so they can gain all the heat and light from outside, but there are small windows in the north.

SHAPE OF THE BUILDING The building is organized on two levels with an area of approximately 240 square meters. The lower floor of the house accommodates the sleeping area. The upper floor is built with a wooden structure, and it accommodates the living room and the kitchen with an open space.
