So my question is So my question is: WHO WAS THE MOST TECHNILOGICALY ADVANCED AIR WISE IN WW1 So who really had the upper edge technological wise air force in WW1? Well, It really depends on what area of technology. You have aerial warfare, land warfare, physiological warfare and hundreds of other sub-sections.

Aerial Warfare United states Brittan Germany

United states PILOTLESS DRONES (“12 Technological Advancements of World War I”) Drones were introduced briefly by the U.S where they intended to make pilotless bombers that would pose less liability on human life, eventually the US. Navy lost interest and dropped the project. (“12 Technological Advancements of World War I”)

Germany Observation, fighters and bombardment (“Bernard Wilkin, page 1”) The Germans excelled in aerial scouting with their “Albatros Scout D.v.”. They also used Zeppelins which are basically big balloons and used them to strategically bomb Brittan and France. These air raids were also effective in another major way which we will talk about in another slide. (“Bernard Wilkin, page 1”)

Brittan Quick advancement (The royal flying corps, history learning site) Brittan in just four years after introducing aerial warfare finished developing bombers and fighter planes. That was a huge step and the introduction of a new era which would change warfare forever. Sadly the British airfare was not all that effective. On one occasion bombers were supposed to destroy MG emplacements in a span of 7 days to secure an infantry charge, well that didn’t go so well. They missed most emplacements and many men and airplanes were lost. (The royal flying corps, history learning site)

Physiological effect (The royal flying corps, history learning site) London was attacked by a German zeppelin and even though only 5 people died and 15 injured it inflicted deep fear in the brits because now their home was attacked and they knew the enemy could reach them.(The royal flying corps, history learning site) Tactics like that were used through-out the war and were a major influence on the moral of troops. Imagine fighting to keep you family safe and then you receive a letter saying that your home town was bombed. You feel like they could still get to you.

Important air battle (The Air Battle of St. Mihiel) St. Mihiel was the most important air battle of WW1. It was to attack the Germans that were trying to engulf fort Verdun. A total of 1476 allied airplanes participated in the event and they completely smashed the Germans. The Germans only had 500 airplanes. (The Air Battle of St. Mihiel)

Conclusion My conclusion Is that all were superior in a way. 1.Germany has the edge in scouts and bombers. 2.Brittan has the numbers and advanced airplanes. 3.America had it’s moral and large numbers and allies.
