TICKETS CONTINUED Shoes off or Bookmark – 10 tickets Free homework pass or 15 minutes computer time – 15 tickets Lunch with a friend or work on the floor – 20 tickets Lunch with the teacher or bring a snack to school – 25 tickets Treasure chest or sit at the teacher’s desk – 30 tickets
- Students are given the opportunity to interact with each other in a fun and rewarding way through games, art or outside activities. -This time is also designated as workroom time for those students who are still working on assignments. - Five checks in conduct, combined in both classes, will eliminate a student from participating in Freaky Friday activities.
Reading/Language and Composition Reading skills will be developed through the use of Reader’s Workshop – independent reading, novels, basal stories to reinforce skills/comprehension (Reader’s Notebook) Rubrics Reading Log due every Friday Language skills will be enhanced through the writing process and incorporated into composition (Language Spirals) Writing will be graded on a scale of 1-4 (Writing Folders) Rubrics Spelling will be assessed weekly-pretest on Monday and final test on Friday Writing STAAR test March 27 and March 28 Reading STAAR test April 25
Math/ Science/ Social Studies Math – hands on and group activities skills will build upon each other STAAR test April 24 Science – will be using physical experiments as well as science lab Students will be making daily journal entries Social Studies – history and social systems of Texas
Homework Spelling assignment every Monday with test on Friday Reading log due every Friday- students need to read every day Math practice page every night Science/Daily Science due every Friday Social Studies/ Studies Weekly due every Friday Homework counts 10% of total average Students sign the conduct book if they miss an assignment
