I believe…. The Creed Lesson 3 Paragraph #2

Objectives: Students will be able to... Capture the meaning of paragraph two of The FFA Creed by creating a short newscast. Effectively work in a group to accomplish goals and prepare a newscast.

2nd paragraph of the creed I believe that to live and work on a good farm, or to be engaged in other agricultural pursuits, is pleasant as well as challenging; for I know the joys and discomforts of agricultural life and hold an inborn fondness for those associations which, even in hours of discouragement, I cannot deny.

Class Discussion Creed- HO1 Paragraph 1 (7 questions) 1. What is meant by “engaged in other agricultural pursuits?” 2. What is challenging about “living and working on a good farm?” 3. What do you believe constitutes a good farm? 4. What are some of the “joys of agricultural life?” 5. What are some of the “discomforts of agricultural life?” 6. What is meant by the statement “and hold an inborn fondness for those associations which, even in hours of discouragement, I cannot deny?” 7. What are some of the discouragements that often are associated with agricultural life?

Group Work Groups of 3-4. Select one of the following roles to play: News Anchor Meteorologist Sports reporter Field reporter Working together create a short newscast covering the meaning of the 2nd paragraph of The FFA Creed using all 4 people in the newscast. You need to come up with a script and prepare to present your newscast in front of the class.

Assignment - Due Next Class 1. Memorize the second paragraph of the FFA Creed for the following class period. You will receive 25 extra credit points for reciting the paragraph in front of the class. 2. Answer 2 questions on Creed– HO1 paragraph 2 and hand in at the beginning of the next class.

Creed Grading Each Paragraph will be worth 50 points. 30 points will be for accuracy of reciting the creed. 10 points will be for Inflection, Volume, and Tempo of speaking. 10 points will be for the response to the questions given in class last time.
