3 Introduction Health care is becoming increasingly mobile. According to a recent study, 72 percent of physicians own a tablet, and more than half of those users employ them at the point of care. 1 In order to take advantage of the benefits that mobile technology provides, the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is implementing the Mobile Health Provider Program. Almost 11,000 mobile devices will be deployed to 18 VA Medical Centers (VAMCs) Physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, physical therapists, home health caregivers and other clinical staff will use these devices in day-to- day activities VA-developed Apps will be made available on the mobile devices via the VA App Store.
