Independent Task Sample Question Describe a city you visited in your past that you found fascinating. Why did you enjoy your visit so much? Include specific reasons and examples to support your answer. Be sure that you understand the question and what it requires you to do.(SHARPNESS)

Independent Speaking How to organize your speech Topic Sentence (In my view.................. for a few reasons) Reason 1 Reasons, examples and details Reason 2 Reasons, examples, and details Conclusion (That’s why I think/prefer...)

Sample 1 What was the most memorable event that ever happened to you while you were at school? Use specific reasons to support your answer.

Response In my view graduating from high school was the most memorable experience in school for a few reasons. First, it was very exciting. For example, before I graduated, I worked very hard and studied for my finals, so I had a lot of stress. So, knowing that I was gonna graduate gave me a feeling of comfort and excitement knowing that I had finished. Second, finishing high school helped me to start my future. For example, before I graduated high school, I lived with my parents, I didn’t really have my own job. But once I graduated I went on to college, I had my first real job, and I lived away from home. So it was the beginning of my future. That’s why graduating from high school was one of my most memorable experiences in school.

Sample 2 Do you prefer a friend who is similar to you or different from you? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

Response I believe a friend who is similar to you is best for a few reasons. First, you’d have fewer arguments with them. For example, when I lived in the dorm, I had a roommate whose opinions in politics, food, and so on were different from mine. So we’d often wind up having arguments when we discussed something. Second, you can have more fun with friends that are similar to you. For example, when I was doing my BA, I had a couple of friends who had the same preferences as mine. So, we’d often do the same thing together like going to a movie or eating out at the same restaurant. That’s why I think it’s best to have friends that are similar to you.
