Action for clean water redcross.org.uk/education

What do we use water for?

Meet Brenda

884 million people in the world lack access to safe water. That’s about 1 in every 8 people. Did you know?

In many developing countries, women and girls walk on average over 3.5 miles each day to fetch water. Women often spend more than 15 hours per week collecting water. Did you know?

More than 3.4 million people die each year from harmful water, sanitation and hygiene-related causes. That’s more than the entire population of Wales. Did you know?

A person in the UK taking a five minute shower uses more water than the average person in a developing country uses for an entire day. Did you know?

The problem

Solutions – Water tanks

Solutions – New toilets

Solutions – Health club

What questions would you ask? How has the Kenya Red Cross helped you and your school? How old are you? What is your name? How has your life changed because of this help? How do you feel now that you have access to clean water and sanitation? Where do you live? How did you feel when you didn’t have access to clean water and sanitation?
