We have more than 42,000 traffic fatalities every year nationwide 1,200 work zone fatalities per year, 1 every 8.5 hrs. or 3 per day. 40,000 work zone injuries per year, 1 every 13 minutes, or 113 per day. More police officers are killed by traffic than by bullets 4 times more officers were killed when struck by vehicles than in accidental shootings over the last 10 years Source:
