BOYS OF BARAKA IN THE CITY

LOCATION: Baltimore City, on the other side of the city. * Somewhere in the city. This way they will be away from home and from their neighborhood but still be around the same conditions that they have lived in. *Kids will stay all week and go home on the weekends. *They will be able to travel to other different neighborhoods that are integrated with different cultures. ~This way they will step out of their comfort zone and be able to learn about other cultures.

Teachers: Outgoing teachers with good attitudes. Teachers that you can easily tell that this is what they love to do. People who have been through the same things that these boys have gone through. Teachers that they can relate to. Teachers that they can look up to for their achievements. Teachers that have a lot of patience. These are kids struggling and they need people that can understand them and see where they are coming from.

Curriculum: *They will work hard on project. They will continue to learn the concept of working together. There will be team projects. *There will be art and craft projects to expand their mind on what is out there. There will be workshops ~Learning how to become good leaders. ~Learning how to work together and compromise. ~Learning the meaning of being “successful”. There will be trips for them to be outdoors and to learn about nature.

Extra curricular: The students will also have to do community projects. They will be able to go to nursing homes and handicap facilities. There they will help elderly and will also play games with them. This way they get to interact with people that are different from them.
