Oakland’s NCAA Leadership Conference Participants The NCAA Leadership Conference developed out of the success of the NCAA Life Skills Program. The Leadership Conference was designed under the basic premise that student-athletes are well positioned to be leaders. The first conference was held in May of 1997 and nearly 1,800 student-athletes have participated since the inception.
