The voice of the research community February 2007 Project management: Key Perspectives Ltd, Truro, UK

On 17 January 2007 an online petition was launched by a consortium of publicly-funded organisations in Europe The petition calls for the European Commission to endorse in full the recommendations in the EU Study on the Economic & Technical Evolution of the Scientific Publication markets of Europe, in particular Recommendation A1

In the first 24 days the petition gathered 18471signatures

European Commissioner for Science & Research Jan Potocnik received the petition immediately before this conference It was presented by Dr Sijbolt Noorda of the European Universities Association, a body that represents 780 universities in Europe
