Who Day of the Dead is a holiday that is celebrated by people of the Mexican culture. This Mexican holiday is celebrated by the families of the deceased. It is believed that the spirits of the deceased return to visit their families during this time.

What Day of the Dead is a holiday celebrated by Mexicans and some Mexican Americans in Mexico and in some regions of the US and Canada. It focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for, remember, and honor their friends and family members who have died.

What The celebration occurs in connection with the Catholic holiday All Saints Day and All Souls Day. In rural Mexico, people visit the cemetery where their loved ones are buried. They also place alters in homes in honor of their deceased loved ones.

When Day of the Dead is celebrated from October 31 st through November 2 nd. On the night of October 31 st the celebrations of Day of the Dead begin. On the 1 st of November the children and infants are believed to return. Deceased adults are honored on the 2 nd of November.

Where They visit cemeteries, where they decorate graves and spend time celebrating there in the presence of there deceased friends and family members. They also make elaborately decorated alters in their homes to welcome spirits. They also have parades in the streets.

Why Day of the Dead is celebrated in order to honor and remember deceased friends and family. Also it is a time for the children to play and learn of their departed relatives. They decorate alters with the deceased’s favorite foods and items. They also use skeletons to represent the people they have lost.

How to Make Candy Skulls What You Need: *2 1/2 cups sugar *egg whites from 2 small eggs *1 teaspoons light corn syrup *1 teaspoon vanilla *Cornstarch, about a half cup, for powdering surface *Colored sprinkles *Food coloring *Fine paint brush *Colored icing *Candy sticks (optional) Here's How: Sift sugar into a large mixing bowl. In another bowl, mix the egg whites, corn syrup and vanilla. Slowly pour the liquid into the powdered sugar. Mix with your hands until a sandy dough forms. Form dough into a ball. At this point you can continue or you can refrigerate dough for later use. Lightly dust surface with cornstarch as well as your hands. Pinch off a heaping tablespoon of dough and shape it into a skull. Press the candy sticks into the bottom of each skull. If you're using them, lightly press colored sprinkles into the soft candy. Let the candy dry overnight. When candy is dry, use the paint brush with food coloring to decorate the skulls. Or you can use frosting (one that will dry hard) with a find tip to decorate them. Hand them out as is, or wrap in a small cellophane bag tied closed with a small ribbon.
