2 Oct. 31-Nov. 2 Mexican holiday Remembering friends and family members who have died. Honor the deceased using sugar skulls, marigolds, and the favorite foods of the deceased. Catholics celebrate “All Saints Day”

3 Marigolds Flower symbol of death. Marigolds are placed around altars and left at tombstones.

4 Sugar Skulls Sugar skulls represent a departed soul. Name of deceased is written on forehead. Decorated with icing, tin foil, and glitter.

5 Skeletons They symbolize mortality and the cycle of life and death. They are fun and joyful, not sad or scary. They are colorful, well dressed, and typically long and skinny.
