MAJOR ACHIEVEMENTS in Petroleum Department  The Department organized a series of live lectures in the Prep Year Auditorium for Orientation students.  The Department organized a series of live lectures for PETE students done by Industry.

 PC Lab. has been upgraded for students use and for the computer classes to them by the instructors as a part of the course.  Dr. Mohammed Al-Marhoun participated in AJSE Editors’ Board.  Dr. Mohammed Al-Marhoun participated in International Journal of Energy Editors’ Board.

  Dr. Mohamad Aggour participated in several international SPE committees.   Dr. Sidqi Abu-Khamsin represented the department in the SPEAsia Pacific Colloquium/University Development of Multidisciplinary Petroleum Engineering Curricula, September 12 – 15, 2002 in

 Dr. Abdulaziz A. Al-Majed visited Riyadh as the Ministry of Higher Education representative to attend the meeting regarding the establishment of a Regional Center for Scientific and Technological Research in Energy, September 9-11, 2002.

 MEA Forum: Based on an invitation from the President, SchlumbergerDrilling Services, Dr. Abdulaziz A. Al-Majed attended the "Interchange2002 MEA" Forum in Muscat, Oman, December 15-18, 2002.

 The Department of Petroleum Engineering’s Student Club Organized Open Days for KFUPM students to meet with:  Saudi Aramco officials,  Schlumberger and  Halibirton on May 17 and 18, 2003 in Building The objective of this Open Day was to obtain information about employment

 The graduate program in petroleum engineering was revised and was recommended for approval by the PETE Department Council, College of Engineering Sciences Council, Graduate Council and University’s Academic Committee. The revised Graduate Program has been submitted to the University Board for final approval.

Endowment chair  The expected chair holder is planning to make a visit to department in near future.

Lab upgrade  Schlumberger Company plans to up grade the production lab.

Short Courses  The department offered three Short courses :  PVT,  Wellbore Instability  Gas Reservoir Engn.

Industrial Advisory  The department will offer in house tow short courses :  PVT  Gas injection for Gulf Operation.  The department arranged to make room as a smart room.  The industrial advisory committee will be finalized soon.
