MODULAR TE Valorisation Conference Dr.-Ing. Juergen Wehling Faculty for Engineering Sciences, Department of Technology (Lectureship) TUD, Prof. Dr.-Ing. E. Sauer, University of Duisburg-Essen, Campus Essen, D Essen, Germany

New Approaches in Technology Training- Development and Integration of European Modules in Technology Education Theme: Modular Structure of Training Module “Information and Communication”

Overview  Point of View  The methodological Conception - Basic Conception of Main Module 3 (Info./Comm.) - Description of Main Module 3 - Related Subjects of Main Module 3 - Related Lectures of Main Module 3 - Taxonomy of the cognitive Dimension - Assembly of Main Module 3 - Assembly of Module 4 (Networking Technologies) - Assembly of a Lecture (Information Transformation V)  Hierarchical Structure (“Bottling Plant”, 5 Parts)  Integration of Training Tools  Final Remarks

Point of View  Methodological Conception  Conception of Modularity  Subject Area: Repository (storage tank)  Psychological Aspects of Learning  Learning Objectives and Outcomes  Consideration of Standards  Curriculum relevant Contents  Use of New Media

The methodological Conception  Main Module 1: Fundamentals  Main Module 2: Technological systems and processes  Main Module 3: Information and communication  Main Module 4: Socio-technology  Main Module 5: Didactics of Teaching Technology

Basic Conception of Main Module 3  Systemic Thinking  Interlaced Structures of Technological Systems  Appliance oriented skills (competences)  Consideration of - Didactical Elements - Methodological Elements  Procurement of - Technological decision-making - Responsibility

Description of Main Module 3  In the systematic structure of this module the hierarchical taxonomy of a cognitive minted learning target can be recognized. After reaching the last hierarchical stage (appliance), the cognitive ability should be present to divide a complex problem into its elementary ranges. These ranges should be assigned to partial hierarchical stages and the total problem should be solved by systematic release in a systemic way.

Taxonomy of the cognitive Dimension Hierarchical Taxonomy of Learning Objectives by B. Bloom Cognitive Dimension Knowledge Comprehension Application Analysis Synthesis Evaluation Note: A revised taxonomy was published in 2001 entitled “A Taxonomy For Learning, Teaching & Assessment” written by Lorin Anderson and David Krathwohl. The revised taxonomy focuses on teaching and learning, rather than assessment, but can be applied to the construction of test items.

Related Subjects of Main Module 3  Knowledge: Circuit design, Analogue technique, Digital technique  Comprehension: Measurement, control and closed loop control, Measurement technique (Oscilloscope), Control (Sequence control, holding element control, guided element control, etc.), Closed loop control (continuous and discontinuous controller, etc.)  Application: Basics of programming techniques, Analysis of problems (flow process chart), Structured programming (modules), Programming of hardware, Hardware (sensors, actuators, ports, I/O-cards, interfaces, etc), Programming (Basic, Assembler, Microcontroller, SPC, bus oriented elements, EIB, etc)  Analysis, Synthesis, Application: Web oriented techniques, Hypertext, JavaScript, Java, PHP, Multimedia, Network structure, Transmitting systems, Operating systems, Protocols, L.A.M.P., Interactive web pages  Evaluation, Application: Autonomous developing of technical experiments (practical training of technology), Recording, processing and interpretation of measurements, Control tasks, Triggering of sensor / actuator peripherals, Elements of closed loop control, Elements of communication engineering

Related Lectures of Main Module 3

Assembly of a Main Module 3  Main Module “Information and Communication” consists of 5 Modules.
