Conclusions Ultimately it is difficult to compare R-values in straw bale construction because of the many variables affecting their efficiency. R- values vary from R 3.0 per inch to R 0.94 per inch depending on construction and the method of R-value measurement. R-value has also been known to decrease with time as the material degrades.
