Creating a Lesson Plan from an Individual Task TUTORIAL: Import Individual Task as TLO You can create a lesson plan much quicker if you link your Individual Task via “importing the task” as a TLO or an ELO by choosing the red or green box next to the task. Every Individual Task must have its own learning objective in a lesson plan. Best practice in designing lesson plans will normally only cover one task listed in TDC. The learning step activities should fulfill the performance measures of the task. Ensure that your individual task supports your lesson plan and your lesson plan supports what you are trying to teach. Every Individual Task has a Synopsis Report that provides the key elements needed to build a quality lesson plan. This report is available in TDC (Individual Task-Tools-Synopsis Report). Note: If more than one Individual Task is imported as a TLO, the last imported task will auto-populate as the TLO. However, the overall TLO must be modified to be general enough to apply to all LSAs or ELOs included in the lesson plan. It must also be written from a classroom environment perspective not an operational one. Choosing the red button will link the task to your Lesson and create a TLO with LSAs and PEs. The LSAs are created from your task Performance Steps. This enables the developer to create a Lesson in a much more efficient fashion. Choosing the green button will link the task as an ELO with LSAs and PEs.

Imported Individual Task(s) as TLO One (1) Individual Task (IT) imported as a TLO: Plan Convoy Operations (551-88A-2005) Two (2) Individual Tasks imported as a TLO (in order of entry in TDC): Plan Convoy Operations (551-88A-2005) Conduct Convoy Operations (551-88A-9013) Plan Convoy Operations Plan Convoy Operations Conduct Convoy Operations Conduct Convoy Operations NOTE: If more than one Individual Task is imported as a TLO, the last imported task will become the lesson plan TLO. The Action, Conditions, and Standards statements will auto-populate in TDC.

TDC Auto-Populated Lesson Plan (Imported Individual Task linked as TLO) Circled items are auto-populated fields when the Individual Task is linked as a TLO

Auto-populated Knowledge Ids will display in this section.

Auto-populated Skill Ids will display in this section.

Auto-populated references will display in this section Auto-populated references will display in this section. Note: References added separately to LSAs will be rolled up and included in this section. Duplicate references will not display.

Equipment Required for Instruction will auto-populate when there is materiel associated with the task(s) including duplicates. Duplicates can be deleted in TDC. Note: If additional Equipment is required, add separately to LSAs and roll up of all Equipment will be included in this section.

In TDC, the imported Individual Task will auto-populate the Action, Condition, and Standards statements only when linked as a TLO. Note: The TLO fields will be left blank if the task is linked as an ELO. Each statement will then have to be entered manually.

In TDC, these fields will not auto-populate. In TDC, the LSAs linked to the Individual Task(s) will auto-populate in this section. However, only the LSA titles will auto-populate. All other fields must be completed manually. Note: In TDC, it is possible for an LSA to be duplicated if more than one Individual Task is imported and they both share the same LSA. Duplicate LSAs can be deleted in TDC by right clicking the LSA and selecting “Delete.” In TDC, these fields will not auto-populate.

TLO auto-populated using the last Individual Task linked as TLO. A Practical Exercise (PE) is generated for each LSA auto-populated in Section III. Presentation. For space purposes, only two PEs are shown in this Tutorial. However, all twenty-three (23) PEs are automatically produced. TDC will allow PEs to be deleted if they will not be used. Right click the PE you want to remove and select “Delete.” TLO auto-populated using the last Individual Task linked as TLO.

A Solution for each Practical Exercise must be added separately for each PE used in the lesson plan.

A Solution for each Practical Exercise must be added separately for each PE used in the lesson plan.
