16 IPv6 Deployment Dr. Haris Stellakis – 04/2015  IPv6 support on both access and distribution networks  IPv6 support on all Data Center equipment  Every new network element installed is IPv6 ready  On already existing infrastructure, IPv6 will be supported through technologies that will be selected on a per case basis (ex. via tunneling) Major selection criteria include operation ability, security and manageability  Transition will be based on best practices (ex. NAT64, XLATDSLite, etc)  Detailed transition plan will be determined during Project Design Phase, taking into account the entire project and vendor info at that time

17 IPv6 Roadmap  Complete network status assessment Investigation includes both equipment and services offered  Design phase I – external networks (ex. Internet, S-Testa, etc.)  Design phase II – SYZEFXIS subprojects  Design phase III – Public Agencies internal infrastructure  Security policy update  Personnel training  Pilot transition  Assessment of pilot transition  Transition (gradual) of entire network External networks Backbone Distribution & Access Data Centers SIX Internal infrastructures  Parallel support of IPv4/IPv6 Dr. Haris Stellakis – 04/2015

18 IPv6 Deployment Challenges Dr. Haris Stellakis – 04/2015 Different Vendors ( even for one subproject due to Contract Framework tender process ) Existing Infrastructure / Services (of Public Agencies) 5 Subprojects  SYZEFXIS II is a multi-subproject effort  Subprojects #1, 2 & 4 are implemented through a contract framework tender process, that leads to various vendors (and platforms) per subproject  Public Agencies internal infrastructure: Technical & Operational obstacles that cause delays  Transition should be performed on an already alive network, serving the core of Public Sector (SYZEFXIS I)  System data and specs will be finalized upon all contract signing

19 Epilogue  SYZEFXIS I runs on IPv4 technology  IPv6 is (by design) available on SYZEFXIS II  Information Society S.A., in collaboration with major project stakeholders: Ministry of Public Reform, The EU Managing Authorities, and The project vendors The Public Agencies have been and will be taking all necessary actions (through RFP requirements and formal project management processes) towards a successful IPv6 deployment in SYZEFXIS network. Dr. Haris Stellakis – 04/2015
