1 Unit Training Management (UTM) Victory Through Training Overmatch CAC-T UTM Tutorial: Training Resources in CATS Purpose: Assist commanders and planners to determine the resources required for a training event by demonstrating where to find training resources in the Combined Arms Training Strategies (CATS) viewer. This tutorial is not a replacement for the content in the UTM manual. For a full, unabridged understanding read Chapter 4 of the UTM.

3 Unit Training Management (UTM) Victory Through Training Overmatch CAC-T What are Combined Arms Training Strategies (CATS) CATS provide task-based, event driven strategies for training units. They are derived from the unit TOE and are developed to train the unit on its designed function. Three key concepts in Unit CATS are: Task Selections (tasks that are logically trained together) Progressive Methodology (crawl, walk, run) ARFORGEN & METL Based For each Task Selection, CATS recommends several events that can train the Task Selection and the associated collective tasks. CATS provides a list of resources required to plan and execute each recommended training event.

4 Unit Training Management (UTM) Victory Through Training Overmatch CAC-T First, find the CATS Viewer Select the CATS Viewer either from the persistent navigation bar or by selecting the linked CATS icon. Open the CATS Viewer on ATN

5 Unit Training Management (UTM) Victory Through Training Overmatch CAC-T Where to find the Combined Arms Training Strategies (CATS) Once in the viewer, select the proponent and then select the desired unit CATS. The viewer displays the Tasks Selections with events and the reports links. Task Selections Events Units by TOE
