Uzeyir Hajibayov (Hajibayli), a composer of genius, one of the most remarkable personalities of Azerbaijan professional music and the founder of the national opera art. ( )

He was born in Shusha, graduated from Gori Teachers’ Training Seminary, attended musical courses in Moscow, continued his musical education at St. Petersburg Conservatoire.

The greatest masterpiece of Uzeyir Hajibayov It was composed in laying the foundation of the Opera Art in Azerbaijan. It was staged on the 12 th of January,1908. It consisted of classical folklore - mugams.

During the period , he composed the operas “Sheikh Sanan”, ”Rustam and Zohrab”, “Shah Abbas and Xurshud Banu”,“Harun and Leyla”, “Koroglu”

He became very famous for his satirical articles, essays. As a newspaper satirist he used pen-names “Filankas”, “Xoca Lala” “Behmankas”,”Choban”,” Bizbiza”,etc. “The life of Uzeyir ” is the film devoted to his busy, and interesting life, his prominent musical activity.

Prominent teacher and thinker Uzeyir Hajibayov worked as a Maths teacher after graduating Gori Seminary. In 1907 he published his Arithmetic-book with 352 sums for 8-9 year- old - students. He said: “I intend to make our students think, discuss, express their thoughts and prove them in practice.”
