Your final grade, part 1... Attendance/Class Participation* Attendance/Class Participation 25% of your final grade 15 three-hour classes, or 30 ninety-minute classes More class room etiquette rules to follow…

Class participation “Do”s… Do… Observe start and stop times; Parking! Turn OFF all electronics; Bring water (closed bottle) only!; Take extensive notes*; Ask many questions!

The binder…. Sign in every week by your name; Place all assignments behind your tab. Your responsibility! (Probably two for this class.)

Class participation “Do not”s... Do not Use your cell phone; Text message; Talk during music and/or lectures; Bring any food or beverage other than closed bottle water into this or any other “Smart Classroom;” Use Wikipedia!

Your final grade, part 2… Three tests: September 29, 2009 (Class #5) November 3, 2009 (Class #10) December 8, 2008 (Class #15)*

Three tests… Cumulative; Thorough review (Class #4, 9, 14) Make –up available*.

About that Asterisks … Make up tests will only be available for a grade of 80 or less; Make up tests will NOT be available for an absence on the day of the test.

Average… At the end of the semester, your three test scores will be averaged together to form 1/3 of your final grade.

Your final grade, part 3… Eleven quizzes Every class, starting next week; 10 points each + 2 extra credit; Delete the lowest quiz score for your final grade, if you have taken all eleven quizzes.

Your final grade, part 3… The Eleven Quizzes will…. begin around 3:30 PM; primarily focus on that day’s work; Cumulative nature of the entire course.

Average… At the end of the semester, your ten highest quiz scores will be averaged together to form 1/3 of your final grade. IF: you have taken all 11 quizzes.

And, finally…. No make-ups for the weekly quizzes.

Our class time together…. Extensive classroom lecture and demonstration; Break around 3PM; Short review; Quiz.

Notes…. I don’t have any. Therefore, take extensive notes and ask many questions.

Your time between classes… Review classroom work; Visit the web sites we use in class for further review; Check your Brookdale for assignments; Ask questions!
