APIMS Benefits to Air Force One Can Only Manage What One Can Measure MAJCOM Equipment Activity Base Emissions by Major Source Category

8 I n t e g r i t y - S e r v i c e - E x c e l l e n c e APIMS Users

9 I n t e g r i t y - S e r v i c e - E x c e l l e n c e USAF Air Quality Reporting Currently the Air Force has active duty facilities in 31 states, with 13 of the 31 having more than one facility APIMS is in use at 50 of 62 CONUS Air Force bases APIMS is also in use at 10 Army, 1 Marine and 2 Navy facilities

10 I n t e g r i t y - S e r v i c e - E x c e l l e n c e AF Bases in Pilot Study States Nebraska –Offut AFB North Carolina –Camp Lejeune –Seymour Johnson AFB Texas –Brooks AFB –Dyess AFB –Fort Hood –Goodfellow AFB –Lackland AFB –Laughlin AFB Texas (cont’d) –Randolph AFB –Sheppard AFB Utah –Hill AFB Washington –Fort Lewis –McChord AFB –Yakima Training Center

11 I n t e g r i t y - S e r v i c e - E x c e l l e n c e Why Have a Pilot Study? All 15 facilities potentially involved in the Pilot Study have an annual requirement to perform an Emission Inventory –Mostly comprised of the same data in as many as 5 different formats In a field-to-field comparison, APIMS demonstrated strong agreement of data elements with each state’s Emission Inventory format and the NEI format

12 I n t e g r i t y - S e r v i c e - E x c e l l e n c e Currently all APIMS data is centralized into a single, consolidated database which will serve as the “Air Force Node” on the Central Data Exchange Pilot Study Outline (Option 1) CDX

13 I n t e g r i t y - S e r v i c e - E x c e l l e n c e Currently all APIMS data is centralized into a single, consolidated database which will serve as the “Air Force Node” on the Central Data Exchange Pilot Study Outline CDX

14 I n t e g r i t y - S e r v i c e - E x c e l l e n c e Pilot Study Milestones Kick-off Teleconference (04/05/2006) –Establish Study Participants and Outline Goals Comprehensive Data Mapping (06/01/2006) –Detailed data mapping of APIMS to each participating state’s database including data types, data length, etc. Update to APIMS to Increase Functionality (07/01/2006) –Adjustment of APIMS functionality to close any data gaps identified during data mapping Successfully Transfer Data from AF Node to Individual State Nodes (09/30/2006)

Benefits to the Air Force –Saves Time –Saves Millions of Dollars Benefits to the States –Increased accuracy of data –Reduces time required for data validation –Data already in a format compatible with the National Inventory Format –Reliable and Reproducible AEI’s 15 I n t e g r i t y - S e r v i c e - E x c e l l e n c e Summary
