What does it look like? Expressing possession means you are saying what belongs to a person In Spanish you will use the preposition “de”, possessive adjectives and the verb “ser”. Example: Ella es la hija de Juan/ Es su hija. (She is the daughter of Juan/ She is his daughter.)

Using “de” When “de” is used in this way it means “of” To format this statement use the following steps: 1 st : The item or person owned 2 nd : the word “de” 3 rd : End with the person that owns the item Example: El padre de mi madre- The father of my mother.

Using “ser” Ser= to be You can use the verb ser to express possession as well. You can use them with “de” or with possessive adjectives. Examples: Yo soy la hija de Bob= I am the daughter of Bob Él es mi padre= He is my father.
