We already know that adjectives agree in GENDER and NUMBER with the noun they describe.
Ejemplo: las chicas bonitas
3
Possessive adjectives tell you who owns something!
Ejemplo: Es mi dinero. (It is my money.)
4
Unlike English, Spanish possessive adjectives AGREE with the nouns they describe.
Es mi gata. It is my cat. Son mis gatas. They are my cats.
5
SINGULAR POSSESSIVE ADJECTIVES MI - my TU - your (familiar)
SU - your (formal) SU - his/her/its NUESTRO(A) - our VUESTRO - your (plural) SPAIN SU - your (plural) SU - their
6
PLURAL POSSESSIVE ADJECTIVES NUESTROS(AS) – our MIS – my
VUESTRO - your SPAIN SUS - your (plural) SUS - their MIS – my TUS - your SUS - your (formal) SUS - his/her/its
7
OJO: nuestro(a) and vuestro(a) agree in gender AND number with the nouns they describe! Possessive adjs. come directly before the noun. Ejemplo: Es mi teléfono. Avoid saying: Es mi el teléfono.

How do I clarify between his/her and their?
Use: NOUN + de + PERSON Ejemplo: Es su abuela. OR Es la abuela de Juan. Es la abuela de Anita. Es la abuela de ellos. How do I clarify between his/her and their?
9
Keep in mind! In Spanish, unlike English a possessive adjective must be repeated before each noun it modifies. Ejemplo: Mi madre y mi padre son de Puerto Rico. English: My mother and father are from Puerto Rico.
10
Keep in mind! When discussing your family use indefinite articles.
Ejemplo:Tengo un hermano. (I have a brother). AVOID saying, “Tengo el hermano.” Ejemplo: Es mi hermano. (He is my brother). AVOID saying, “Es mi un hermano.” Keep in mind!
