An International Cooperation Enterprise for Sustainable Development German Technical Cooperation – GTZ-Egypt 3 PPP – Promotion of Instructional Media Development Objective To make available modern instructional media for technical vocational training, corresponding to demand-oriented curricula & international quality standards Current Situation Key problem is the lack of proper teaching and learning materials (they are neither very appealing, nor very up to date) Currently used teaching & learning material does not correspond to needs of industry This deficit has negative repercussions for the need of qualified personnel

An International Cooperation Enterprise for Sustainable Development German Technical Cooperation – GTZ-Egypt 5 German companies mainly contributing in preparation of instructional media, contents, didactical concepts and models as well as technology. Egyptian companies focusing mainly on translation, adaptation localization and distribution as well as marketing GTZ and the Egyptian side control and guarantee the acceptance of the developed instructional media in the field of vocational training as well as the dissemination in the region. They will be coached for two days in a company in combination with the workshop. They will receive tasks during the period between the workshops and will be in close contact with the Consultants in Turkey. They will participate in a one week study tour in Turkey. Workshops 4 three day Workshops within the period of 2 years in Cairo, Alexandria and Mahalla El Kubra with the following themes: Supply Chain Management Design & Development How to Export to Europe?

Sustain is 100% a daughter company of Otto group. German-Arab Chamber of Industry and Commerce Private Sector Contribution Total: 91 T€ (GTZ-Contribution from PPP- Facility)

An International Cooperation Enterprise for Sustainable Development German Technical Cooperation – GTZ-Egypt 10 PPP – German Egyptian Welding Center Objective Establishment of a welding centre and training of multipliers from different educational institutions and from the industry in welding techniques according to Egyptian market needs and international standards Current Situation Egypt has an increased demand for qualified skilled personnel Lack of qualified trainers/instructors, particularly for welding techniques Increased demand of metal-working Industry trained according to international norms Educational Institutions teaching welding techniques fail to meet industry demands (too theoretical or too practical)

An International Cooperation Enterprise for Sustainable Development German Technical Cooperation – GTZ-Egypt 11 Train – The – Trainer Programme (TOT) Minimum of 40 welding instructors from Technical Vocational Training Centres & Industry trained as multipliers 2 to 4 multipliers to be hired as instructors in the German Egyptian Welding Center (GEWC) Remaining multipliers implement training courses to transfer newly acquired know how in their institutions/ companies  Knowledge & techniques spread and applied by job beginners (through educational institutions) and to welders in the industry (through company multipliers) PPP – German Egyptian Welding Center

An International Cooperation Enterprise for Sustainable Development German Technical Cooperation – GTZ-Egypt 12 PPP – German Egyptian Welding Center Training Courses Additional to multiplier training 15 several week training courses will be conducted for 150 personnel Welding aspects abiding to international quality and performance standards such as job safety, material science, health protection, environmental protection, and quality assurance will be taught Target Groups Skilled labour in Metal working Industry Unskilled labour (i.e. school leavers) to be trained to welders

An International Cooperation Enterprise for Sustainable Development German Technical Cooperation – GTZ-Egypt 13 PPP – German Egyptian Welding Center Partners GTZ GSI- Gesellschaft für Schweißtechnik International mbH GSI und AL SALEM established a joint venture, the German Egyptian Welding Centre (GEWEC) in GSI holds 60%, Al SALEM 40% of the joint venture. Private Sector Contribution Total: 161 T€ (GTZ-Contribution from PPP-Facility)
