“Lectio Divina” Praying through Scripture 1.Write down the 4 stages in latin, leaving 4 lines between each heading. 2.Watch the video. Write down next to the heading the english word that means the same as the latin. Lectio divina means "sacred reading" and has 4 stages. 1.Lectio - means… 2.Meditatio 3.Oratio 4.Contemplatio

2. Watch the video again. Write down more detail about what each stage involves doing, on the line below it. 1.Lectio - reading 2.Meditatio - thinking 3.Oratio - prayer 4.Contemplatio -

1. Now correct your definitions by matching & writing out the correct box. 2. Explain how this method works in your own words ***Think of a mnemonic to help you remember the order of the stages! Slowly, more than once. Notice any phrases that strike you. 1.Lectio - reading 2.Meditatio - thinking 3.Oratio - Prayer 4.Contemplatio - rest in God’s embrace Ask yourself questions – what is it about? What phrases strikes you ? What are they saying to you? To your life & struggles now? How does it make you feel? Time of silence, rest in the presence of God. Sense being one with God. Speak to God about what you’ve discovered. Thank him, ask for his strength, for help, on behalf of someone else.
