Presentation transcript:

Civil engineers are involved with the design of many structures being, roadways, buildings, tunnels, airports, waste water, water supply plants, and so on and so forth.

To this day, man does not know exactly when the first bridge was built. It could have been built over a creek, or over a little ditch.

With a lot of bridges built and only given an expectance of seventy five years or so, those bridges are beginning to break and fall.

Here is the Minneapolis, Minnesota bridge that fell into the Mississippi River. It happened on august during the evening rush hour traffic. It killed 13 people and injured 145. $38 million for victims $52.4 million in lawsuits $5 million reimburse Minnesota for transit uses $138,368 for the red cross $234 million for new bridge

With the bridges falling, civil engineers are needed to fix or improve the old bridges to bring them back up to there tip top shape.

With today's technology, bridges are built a lot better and are made to withstand whatever man or nature throws at them.
