CORPORATE PROPOSAL FOR XXXXX COMPANY

Workplace English Training E-Platform (WETE) is an online training and resource centre. Designed for working adults who want to develop and improve their business English skills, WETE is a low-cost solution for companies who want to give company-wide training, especially those with staff across multiple locations. WETE fills a niche in the competitive online training market by providing continuous yet flexible learning. This is what separates WETE from other online training products. WETE is available: 1) online, and 2) as an add-on to a company's intranet. Key features of WETE: A monthly interactive magazine (Workplace English Training E-Magazine) A Learning Centre (includes searchable content from past issues of the E-Magazine) Level-testing system Question and answer forum Each issue of the monthly E-Magazine is packed with interactive lessons to help learners improve their business writing, speaking, listening and vocabulary. All past content is available in the Learning Centre, which is categorized and fully searchable. WETE also incorporates community features such as audio and video podcasts, and a business English question and answer forum. Companies purchase WETE through annual subscriptions. When a subscription expires, clients receive detailed statistics on staff usage as well as a staff evaluation report. The corporate re-subscription rate over the past three years has been about 96%, proving that companies see the benefits, especially the continuous learning element of using WETE. An Overview of Workplace English Training E-Platform

Workplace English Training E-Platform (WETE) provides comprehensive advice and practice in all aspects of business English. The main component of WETE is the E-Magazine, a monthly online magazine packed with learning advice and interactive exercises designed for self-study. WETE’s Learning Centre is the most comprehensive Business English reference resource available online. It is categorised and fully searchable. WETE is available both online from our website and as a corporate intranet installation. Offline and printer-friendly versions of each issue of the E-Magazine are also available to all users. What is WETE?

WETE is designed for adult learners who have an English language level between pre-intermediate and higher-intermediate, and who need to use English at work. WETE works particularly well for learners who are self-motivated and interested in self-improvement. WETE is an invaluable resource for staff that require English for specific purposes, or for those who want to supplement existing business English training programs. WETE will benefit managers who spend a lot of time correcting documents. They will see WETE as a way of helping their staff to improve their written English. Who is WETE for?

It offers continuous training, rather than a fixed-length course with a start and finish. It is updated monthly with new content. It focuses only on work-related English training, unlike other online products that focus on general English training. It is as much a Business English reference resource as a training resource. It is considerably less expensive per head than any other form of online language training currently available, yet equally or more effective. How does WETE Differ from Other Online Training Courses and Products?

It provides an on-going development of language skills specifically related to work. It provides your staff access to: model business documents, downloadable audio lessons and study notes, dialogues and interactive practice exercises which will help your staff better perform work-related tasks in English, a forum in which they can receive answers to problem language issues. What are the Benefits of Using WETE?

It’s continuous. Language learning should never end when a course is finished. Language acquisition is an on-going process. It focuses only on the type of English that staff need to use at work. Thus, the learning achieved by your staff will directly benefit your company. It is topic-categorised and searchable so your staff can find exactly what they are looking for quickly and easily. Such a facility will help them with day-to-day English tasks. It is the most cost-effective way of training large numbers of staff, especially if they are based in different locations. Why is WETE Effective?

All staff must register before they can access the members area of the site. You can track your staff’s online usage at any time. At the start of your company’s subscription, we will provide you with online login details for HR Tracking. Once logged in to HR Tracking, you can check individual staff usage or all staff usage including time online, pages viewed, exercises accessed, files downloaded and more. The information can be displayed numerically and/or through a variety of charts and graphs. The format allows for easy printing directly from the module. How Can you Monitor Staff Usage?

Remind staff each month about the new issue. We will you a welcome letter in English and Chinese. Promote WETE in your company newsletter. Tie in WET with your English training courses or soft-skills courses. Have your own monthly competition based on the current WET issue. Put our WETE poster on departmental notice boards. Encourage staff to have 'One Hour English Speaking Time' weekly. Invite a WETE consultant to give a FREE 30-minute demonstration to your Managers. Tips for Promoting WETE in your Company

Pre-test for all new users to determine proficiency level. Learning maps to show users which topics are appropriate for their level. Individual login for corporate users so that individual staff usage can be accurately monitored by HR. Translation of each issue into Chinese, including the interactive exercises. Main menus available in different languages Mobile Learning – a downloadable module of the main points of each issue, including key language, audio clips and short quizzes. The module can be used on mobile phones. New Developments Planned for WETE in 2009/10

The standard cost for a 12-month corporate subscription to WETE is HK$40,000. However, if XXXXX purchases the platform before 31 March 2009 the fee will be discounted to HK$20,000, a 50% saving. To view WETE online we have set up a free 7-day trial for your company: Username:xxxxx Password:xxxxx How Much Does an Annual Corporate Subscription to WETE Cost?

WETE is, as far as I know, the only online magazine focusing on business English. We have had very positive comments from our staff who find it useful, especially as it’s directly related to the English they are using in their jobs. English Writing Coach – PricewaterhouseCoopers Interactive online training is the future. WETE is informative and full of challenging language tasks related to the workplace. Through our corporate annual subscription we can give all grades of our staff access to some form of language training. We like the idea that it is on-going. Anyone who uses the magazine regularly will improve their English, especially English for the workplace. This in turn helps our company. It is a very cost effective language learning tool which I highly recommend. Training Director – Hutchison Whampoa WETE is an excellent way to improve work-related language skills. For the cost of less than half of one classroom-based language course, we can provide on-going training to all of our staff for a year. Studying the E-Magazine on a regular basis helps our staff to develop their knowledge of business English and polish their general English skills. HR Manager – ING Insurance WETE Client Testimonials
