About the project The project was manufactured in the Engineering facility workshops It took 5 hours of working The raw materials were brought from the workshop and from other sources outside the university

Screw Lift Screw lift is a mechanical system used to lift objects using the principle of screw and nut. As the screw rotates, the nut is forced to move up or down depending on the direction of the rotation of the screw Most common use for screw lifts is car lifting

Design The nut and screw system converts the rotational motion into vertical linear motion The moving plate and the forks is to hold the object being lift The shaft is to hold the plate in a horizontal state

Manufacturing processes During the manufacturing of the screw lift, several manufacturing processes were used, these manufacturing processes are : 1- cutting operation 2- drilling operation 3- grinding operation 4- welding operation 5- threading operation

Cutting operation The cutting operation was used to cut the shaft Long, straight steel rods were used to make the shafts of length 15 cm The cutting operation was done manually using the saw

Drilling operation The drilling operation was used for two purposes : 1- drilling the plates : a- fixing the work piece b- using 12mm drill c- drilling operation

Grinding operation The grinding operation was used to grind the parts after cutting < in order to give a better look and more safety.

Welding operation The welding operation was used to link the following parts together : 1- the nut and the moving plate

Threading Operation Threading for the shaft using the bottom dies ( 12 mm )

Problems The shaft has a small vertical angle, which is caused by wrong welding operation The threads are not so perfect because the bottom die in the workshops is not so perfect
