I.The PURITY of Biblical anger

Be ye angry, and sin not (Eph 4:26) Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: (Eph 4:27) Neither give place to the devil.

A. Christ like anger.

God is angry with the wicked every day (Psa 7:11) God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day.

And when he had looked round about on them with anger, being grieved for the hardness of their hearts (Mar 3:4-5) And he saith unto them, Is it lawful to do good on the sabbath days, or to do evil? to save life, or to kill? But they held their peace. And when he had looked round about on them with anger, being grieved for the hardness of their hearts … so doth an angry countenance a backbiting tongue (Pro 25:23) The north wind driveth away rain: so doth an angry countenance a backbiting tongue.

A. Christ like anger. B. Controlled anger

(Joh 2:14-16) And found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting: And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers' money, and overthrew the tables; And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father's house an house of merchandise.

(1Pe 2:21) For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: (1Pe 2:22) Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: (1Pe 2:23) Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:

(1Sa 18:10) And it came to pass on the morrow, that the evil spirit from God came upon Saul, and he prophesied in the midst of the house: and David played with his hand, as at other times: and there was a javelin in Saul's hand. (1Sa 11:6) And the Spirit of God came upon Saul when he heard those tidings, and his anger was kindled greatly.

I.The PURITY of Biblical anger II.The POWER struggle over anger

(Eph 4:26) Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: Neither give place to the devil (Eph 4:27) Neither give place to the devil.

(2Co 2:10) To whom ye forgive any thing, I forgive also: for if I forgave any thing, to whom I forgave it, for your sakes forgave I it in the person of Christ; (2Co 2:11) Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

A. The chaos that can come from anger

(Pro 14:17) He that is soon angry dealeth foolishly …

A man of great wrath shall suffer punishment (Pro 19:19) A man of great wrath shall suffer punishment: for if thou deliver him, yet thou must do it again.

(Pro 25:28) He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.

(Pro 26:23) Burning lips and a wicked heart are like a potsherd covered with silver dross.

(Pro 29:22) An angry man stirreth up strife, and a furious man aboundeth in transgression. (Pro 14:29) He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.
