Presentation transcript:

There are many reasons why cats develop urinary problems.

One cause is inflammation of the lower urinary tract.

If crystals or stones form in the urinary tract, they can obstruct the passing of urine, especially in male cats.

Other factors that increase the likelihood of a urinary problem are….

 High levels of certain minerals in your cat’s diet can increase the chance of crystal and/or stone formation.

 Lack of exercise, living mainly indoors, dirty litter boxes and reduced water intake can cause cats to urinate less frequently. This can lead to infection and/or the formation of crystals or stones.

 Overweight cats are more prone to urinary problems

 Straining when urinating  Urinating in unusual places  Vocalizing when urinating  Blood in urine  Increased frequency in urination  Incontinence
