Learning Styles Stations Opportunities for Every Student

Write 3 Times! On the whiteboard or chalkboard, write each of the three words three times in the color of your choice. Make sure you spell each word correctly! Have your partner(s) check your spelling.

Air & Touch Writing With your finger, “write” each of the three words two times in the air. With your finger, “write” each of the three words two times on the felt. With your finger, “write” each of the three words two times in the shaving cream.

Microphones Record yourself as you say and spell each of the three words into the microphone. To record slide the on-off switch until LED lights orange. Press and release the red button, and LED will change to red. Speak into the microphone. Press the red button again to stop the recording. Listen to your recording of all three words. Press the green play button to hear your recording. To delete your recordings. Press the green play button twice (to play and pause). While the track is paused, press and hold the red button until LED is orange.

Alphabetize Locate the words on the cards. Select the three vocabulary words from the cards and arrange them in alphabetical order on your table. Now arrange all of the cards so that all of the words are in alphabetical order. Compare your arrangement to your partner’s arrangement. Have your teacher check your work.

Tiles Use the tiles to correctly spell each of the three vocabulary words. Once you have finished, compare your work to your partner’s work.

Match-Up Locate the match-up cards. Use all of the cards to match the vocabulary word, definition, and related picture on the template. Compare your work with your partner’s work.

Fly Swatter Read the definition aloud to your partner. Your partner will “swat” the word on the wall that matches the definition you read. Check your partner’s answer. Switch roles: let your partner read the definitions and you “swat” the words.

Pictionary Select a card from the “deck”. Start the timer. Sketch clue(s) for your partner. See if your partner can guess the word before time is up. Switch roles. Your partner should now sketch and you should now guess the word.

Keyboard Use the keyboard to type each of the three vocabulary words three times as your partner observes. Say the letters aloud as you type. Switch roles. Your partner now types and says the letters aloud as you observe.

Song Work with your partner to use a familiar tune to write a verse or chorus using words that help you remember the definition of each of the three vocabulary words.

Tap It Out! Using your hand or pencil/pen, tap the table once for each syllable of each of the three vocabulary words as your partner observes. Repeat the process, but this time tap the table once for each letter as you spell aloud each of the three vocabulary words as your partner listens. Switch roles so your partner becomes tapper and you become observer and listener.

Rock-N-Roll Vocab! Roll one of the dice to see who goes first. The person that rolls the lowest number is Player #1 and goes first! Without letting your partner see, draw a card from the deck and roll one of the dice. Complete the task that matches to the number that you rolled to help your partner guess the word! Now it is Player #2’s turn. Continue playing Rock-N-Roll Vocab until time is up!

Vocab Spinner Roll one of the dice to determine who goes first. The player who rolls the highest number is Player #1 and goes first! Without letting your partner see, draw a card from the deck and spin the spinner. When your spinner stops, complete that task to help your partner guess the word! Now it is Player #2’s turn! Continue playing Vocab Spinner until time is up!
