Thesis Statement Human sex trafficking should be abolished because it disrespects individual rights and spreads unsanitary diseases.

What is Sex Trafficking? Definition: a form of human trafficking, in which people, usually women and children are traded or transported to perform sexual acts for others.

Where? Sex trafficking occurs worldwide. It happens in foreign countries as well as cities, large and small in the U.S. Residential brothels Hostess clubs Online escort services Fake massage businesses Strip clubs Street prostitution

Maria’s Story Left her family in the Ukraine to take a cleaning job in Italy with a friend. Was met by several suspicious men when arriving in Italy who took them to a building on the outskirts of the town. “the windows were barred and there was the constant presence of a guard” Forced to sleep with as many as ten guys in one day. She was beaten if she refused and if the customer complained there was a fine added to her debt, prolonging her time as a sex slave. Freed from captivity when the brothel was raided by police.

Why it is Unsanitary Sexually Transmitted Diseases People involved in the sex trafficking industry have the potential to easily become a host for STD’s by having multiple sexual partners Drugs may be used to control trafficked individuals or as a coping method. This could become unsanitary by sharing hypodermic needles for drugs.

Mental & Physical Health Problems A study done in Italy in 2006 showed that 95% of women suffered high levels of physical and sexual abuse during their exploitation. Most women suffered from the following: fatigue headaches sexual and reproductive health problems back pain significant weight loss PTSD Mental health symptoms continued longer than physical health symptoms.
