Sukkoth Tabernacles, Booths

John 6:58 This is the bread which came down from heaven, not such as the fathers ate and died; he who eats this bread will live for ever." 59 This he said in the synagogue, as he taught at Capernaum. 60 Many of his disciples, when they heard it, said, "This is a hard saying; who can listen to it?" After this many of his disciples drew back and no longer went about with him. 67 Jesus said to the twelve, "Do you also wish to go away?" 68 Simon Peter answered him, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life;

John 7:1 After this Jesus went about in Galilee; he would not go about in Judea, because the Jews sought to kill him. 2 Now the Jews' feast of Tabernacles (Sukkoth) was at hand. 3 So his brothers said to him, "Leave here and go to Judea,... 6 Jesus said to them, "My time has not yet come, but your time is always here... 9 So saying, he remained in Galilee. 10 But after his brothers had gone up to the feast, then he also went up, not publicly but in private.

Scriptures in the book of John of Jesus presence and teaching in the Temple. John 7:14 John 7:28 John 8:2 John 8:20 John 8:59 John 5:14 John 10:23 John 11:56 John 18:20. There are 23 references in the book of Acts alone that indicate the early church participated with the Temple.

John 7:14 About the middle of the feast (Sukkoth) Jesus went up into the temple and taught. 15 The Jews marveled at it, saying, "How is it that this man has learning, when he has never studied?" 16 So Jesus answered them, "My teaching is not mine, but his who sent me; 17 if any man's will is to do his will, he shall know whether the teaching is from God or whether I am speaking on my own authority. 18 He who speaks on his own authority seeks his own glory; but he who seeks the glory of him who sent him is true, and in him there is no falsehood.

John 7:19 Did not Moses give you the law (Torah)? Yet none of you keeps the law. Why do you seek to kill me?" 20 The people answered, "You have a demon! Who is seeking to kill you?" 21 Jesus answered them, "I did one deed, and you all marvel at it. 22 Moses gave you circumcision (not that it is from Moses, but from the fathers), and you circumcise a man upon the Sabbath. 23 If on the Sabbath a man receives circumcision, so that the law of Moses may not be broken, are you angry with me because on the Sabbath I made a man's whole body well? 24 Do not judge by appearances, but judge with right judgment."

John 7:19 Did not Moses give you the law (Torah)? Yet none of you keeps the law. Event + Interpretation = Revelation Torah + Pharisees (merit works) = Judaism Torah + Jesus (grace through faith) = Christianity What Jesus and the early church said was that they had the correct event, Torah, but the wrong interpretation. Note: That righteous, in the Torah, is clearly by grace through faith. Gen 15. Hab 2:4. Rom 4. Etc. etc. etc.

Interpretation John 7:19 Did not Moses give you the law (Torah) ? Yet none of you keeps the law Jesus answered them, "I did one deed, and you all marvel at it.

John 7:28 So Jesus proclaimed, as he taught in the temple, "You know me, and you know where I come from? But I have not come of my own accord; he who sent me is true, and him you do not know. 29 I know him, for I come from him, and he sent me." 30 So they sought to arrest him; but no one laid hands on him, because his hour had not yet come. 31 Yet many of the people believed in him; they said, "When the Christ appears, will he do more signs than this man has done?"

The double revelation of John the Baptist John 1:29 The next day he (John the Baptist) saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, "Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! (Lev 16).. 32 And John bore witness, "I saw the Spirit descend as a dove from heaven, and it remained on him. 33 I myself did not know him; but he who sent me to baptize with water said to me, `He on whom you see the Spirit descend and remain, this is he who baptizes with the Holy Spirit (Joel 2).'

Isaiah 12 and the ritual of Sukkoth Isaiah 12:3 With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation. The daily ritual of water pouring ritual at Sukkoth.

John 7:37 On the last day of the feast (Sukkoth), the great day, Jesus stood up and proclaimed, "If any one thirst, let him come to me and drink. 38 He who believes in me, as the scripture has said, `Out of his heart shall flow rivers of living water.'" 39 Now this he said about the Spirit, which those who believed in him were to receive; for as yet the Spirit had not been given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.

Concerning the Baptism from John 7:37-39 Motivation=thirst for more of Jesus. An event of receiving=drink. Ministry overflow from new nature resulting from the Baptism in the Holy Spirit Acts 2:33.

John 7:40 When they heard these words, some of the people said, "This is really the prophet. (Deut18:18) “… 45 The officers then went back to the chief priests and Pharisees, who said to them, "Why did you not bring him?" 46 The officers answered, "No man ever spoke like this man!"

The self righteous attitude of the Pharisees resting upon their works- merit interpretation of Torah. John 7:47 The Pharisees answered them (Temple officers), "Are you led astray, you also? 48 Have any of the authorities or of the Pharisees believed in him? 49 But this crowd, who do not know the law, are accursed."..all this at the Feast of Sukkoth..
