Sub Topic—Comprehension Lesson Plan Class 10th Time-35minutes Date 31-10-2013 Topic—Tea from Assam Sub Topic—Comprehension

Objectives of the lesson GENERAL OBJECTIVES To develop reading, writing, speaking and comprehension skills. To create interest in English language. To motivate the children to create a healthy environment for the effective use of language.

Specific Objectives To enhance their comprehension skill.(Activity-1) To develop new vocabulary among the students.(Activity-2) To develop the skill of question framing and answering them among the students.(Activity-3,4)

Motivation--- Putting some easy questions, showing pictures related to the topic ,teaching environment will be created to make students feel easy.  

Previous Knowledge Testing--- Well students, which drinks do you like? What do you know about tea? Which states are most popular for production of tea in India?

Pranjol and Rajvir- Classmate of a school in Delhi Pranjol’s Father – Manager of a tea garden in upper Assam Train journey of Rajvir & Pranjol from Delhi to Assam(Dhakiabari) Favourite past time of Pranjol Reading detective books.

Model Reading “ Chai- Garam…. Garam- chai,” a vendor called out in a high pitched voice. He came up to their window and asked,” Chai, Sa’ab?” “Give us two cups.” Pranjol said. They sipped the steaming hot liquid. Almost everyone in their compartment was drinking tea too. “ Do you know that over eighty crore cups of tea are drunk every day throughout the world?” Rajvir said. “ Whew!”: exclaimed Pranjol. “ Tea really is very popular.” The train pulled out of the station. Pranjol buried his nose in his detective book again. Rajvir too was an ardent fan of detective stories, but at the moment was keener on looking at the beautiful scenery. It was green, green everywhere. Rajvir has never seen so much greenery before. Then the soft green paddy fields gave way to tea bushes. It was a magnificent vies. Against the backdrop of densely wooded hills a sea of tea bushed stretched as far as the eye could see. Dwarfing the tiny tea plants were tall sturdy shade- trees and amidst the orderly rows of bushes busily moved doll-like figures. In the distance was an ugly building with smoke following out of tall chimneys.  

Group activity Group no-1:- students will be read the paragraph proper pronunciation and punctuation. Group no-2 students will be asked to give the meaning of the following words in to Hindi:- Vender, sipped, compartment, backdrop sturdy, buried his nose, ardent, magnificent, dwarfing, billowing.

Group no-3 students will be asked to answer the question from the paragraph. A)Who were travelling in the train? B)How many cups of tea are drunk in a day through out the world? C)Which book Pranjol was reading in the train? D)What kind of view Rajvir was enjoying outside the train during his journey? E)Where were the two boys going?

Group no -4 Students will be asked to fill in the blanks by using appropriate words from the paragraph. A) Prinjol was busy in reading a ------------book. B)The train was moving from --------to ---------. C)The view was --------outside the train during the journey. D)The tiny plants of trees were moving --------figures. E)------------came up to there window and asked “ Chai sa’ab.
