8 MOTIVATION Dear students, water is very valuable for life & we can’t survive without water. It is very amazing that there is water everywhere on Earth but a very little available to drink. Being our life very precious, we must drink clean water. There is no existence of life without water. Further, how polluted water can be hazardous for our life. Therefore, we must know about water pollution. Can we survive without water?

14 CONSTRUCTIVIST PRESENTATION Dear students, as you have rightly said that there are various sources of water such as – Oceans, seas, rivers,lakes, wells etc. on earth. ¾ part of earth surface is covered with water, but water available for drinking is scarce i.e. less than 1%. Among this quantity available for drinking, large amount of water is unfit. Therefore, you must know about the water pollution. What do you know about water pollution? Water Pollution- Any change in the quality of water due to the presence of harmful materials which makes water unfit for drinking is called water pollution.
