Sports The Detroit Public Safety Academy wants to provide our athletes with positive life experiences within the events of competitive interscholastic athletic activities. We believe in the following virtues: Teamwork and Cooperation Good Health and Physical Fitness Sportsmanship and Fair Competition School Spirit and Loyalty Self-Respect and Respect for Others Social Skills Hard Work and Discipline Our following sport activities we have are: Junior Varsity Volleyball Varsity Basketball Cheerleading

Public Transportation Support Detroit Public Safety Academy can provide your child with fees for the public transportation. Your child will receive five student fare and transfer tickets every week.

Clean Environment The desks and chair conditions have been maintained and are clean. The bathroom conditions are maintained and always stay clean.

Tutoring The teachers will assist students with tutoring, mentoring & life skills development. The teachers will also help the students understand the subjects that they’re struggling with.

Vending Machines The student counsel of DPSA decided to give our student body a vending machine along with a beverage machine. The vending machines are provided with healthy foods and snacks.

Safety First Detroit Public Safety Academy(DPSA) in partnership with our community, will provide a safe, innovative and nurturing environment where students are valued and treated with dignity and respect as staff prepare and engage them in meaningful, differentiated learning experiences that will promote distinguishable character and workforce success, particularly in the public safety arena.

Eastern Michigan Detroit Public Safety is authorized by Eastern Michigan University. It is the first and only school of its’ kind in Michigan. Along with excellent academics, students learn about careers in Law Enforcement, Fire, Emergency Medical Services and others.

College courses Students have begun their Dual Enrollment Courses sponsored by Wayne County Community College.

Positive Behavior The behavior intervention department has now implemented the student positive referral contest for students exhibiting positive behavior. Prizes will be presented every 30 days.

Helpful Teachers “A teacher who actively listens to students is listening for the meaning behind what students are saying, then checks in with them to make sure they’ve understood properly. This affirms students’ dignity and helps develop a trusting relationship between teachers and students” (Palwasha, 2013).” Our teachers here at DPSA really care and opitimize this belief of teachers.
