What is wrong with these sentences? 10 planaria (Dugesia dorotocephala) were placed in the center of the experimental petri dish. 73% of the sessions in Experiment I were held in North Pool, while 28% were held in the morning (AM) (Table 1). 50% of the time, the beluga whale (Delphinapterus leucas) chose the object in the trainer’s left hand.

How to fix the sentences! Ten planaria (Dugesia dorotocephala) were placed in the center of the experimental petri dish. Seventy-three percent of the sessions in Experiment I were held in North Pool, while 28% were held in the morning (AM) (Table 1). Fifty percent of the time, the beluga whale (Delphinapterus leucas) chose the object in the trainer’s left hand.

What is wrong with these sentences? Figure 1 shows that the clam worms in 40%, 60%, and 80% saltwater experienced positive percentage changes in weight. According to Figure 2, the beluga whale chose the object worth the greater reward 52% of the time by the end of Experiment I. Figure 3 supports the hypothesis that planarians are negatively phototactic.

How to fix the sentences! The clam worms in 40%, 60%, and 80% saltwater experienced positive percentage changes in weight (Figure 1). The beluga whale chose the object worth the greater reward 52% of the time by the end of Experiment I (Figure 2). The average percentage of planarians on the dark side of the experimental dish was significantly greater than the average percentage on the light side (Figure 3), a result that supports the hypothesis that planarians are negatively phototactic.

A few easy things Table titles go ABOVE Tables! Figure titles/legends go BELOW Figures! Tables and Figures must stand alone! Results sections are not just the Tables and/or Figures. You actually need to describe the data in the figures You can state whether or not two or more data sets are significantly different Significant differences are results! You need to cite your Figures in the middle or end of your Results (and Discussion) sentences!
