You are going to work with your neighbour Pupil A is going to see a picture and give pupil B instructions Pupil B is going to draw that picture

You only have 5 minutes to do that activity You must say where the objects are on the picture (=precise location of the objects) And above all, you must speak English!!!

Type of document? This document is a film poster entitled Whale Rider and shot by Niki Caro

Localize the objects? In this picture, In foreground, in the middle, I can see a girl who is smiling and looking at something on the right. She is raising her arms and has her hair in the wind. She’s wearing a green and yellow tracksuit jacket

Localize the objects? I can also see a whale at the bottom. It is swimming in the sea and its body is covered with barnacles. At the top, I can see comments and the title of the film.

Analyze the document? The girl looks very happy. Her position on the picture suggests that she’s riding the whale as is evoked by the title. There are differences between the two worlds: on the one hand, there’s the sea and on the other hand the air. The whale is an animal whereas the girl is a human being.

Analyze the document? However, the whale and the girl are linked: it is as if the girl was the reincarnation of the whale.

Analyze the document? However, the whale and the girl are linked: it is as if the girl was the reincarnation of the whale. The omnipresence of the colour blue suggests that it is the world of dream The two opposite positions of the girl and the whale suggest that there is a link between the pas and the future as is indicated by the comment. The whale swimming towards the left represents the values of the past whereas the girl looking towards the right represents the future and a bright one as she’s smiling.

Give your opinion I like this film poster because the atmosphere is rather… I don’t like this film poster because the atmosphere is rather… To conclude, thanks to this film poster I want/ don’t want to watch that film because…
