Eagle Project Timeline 1. Select an organization and a project you would like to volunteer for. 2. Contact the organization and discuss your idea with a representative. Obtain initial okay to proceed. 3. Preliminaries / preparations 4. Present Eagle Project to Troop Committee. 5. Submit Eagle Scout Project Pre-approval Application Form to District Advancement Chairperson. 6. EXECUTE THE PROJECT. 7. Write your Eagle Project Final Report. 8. Project Approval – Submit your Project Report

Step 1: Select an Organization and Project Eagle Leadership Service Project Demonstrate and exercise your leadership skills. Provide an important service to your community. Leadership Service

Step 1: Select an Organization and Project Eagle Leadership Service Project  Pick an organization you will be proud to help: Church Charitable Organization – Examples: Goodwill, Habitat for Humanity Service Organization – Examples: Lions Club, BPOE Government Agency – Examples: Harris Township, DCNR  Pick a project that will demonstrate your leadership skills.  Build something for them that will last.  Your work needs to have a definite completion (no on-going maintenance).

Step 1: Select an Organization and Project Things to avoid:  Any project for profit-making organizations  Any project benefitting the Boy Scouts of America / Order of the Arrow  Projects involving only routine labor normally done by volunteers  Projects that are primarily fundraisers

Step 2: Contact the Organization  Discuss your idea with an Organization Representative.  Discuss financing the project.  Discuss timeline of accomplishing the work.  Obtain initial okay to proceed.

Step 3: Preliminaries 1. Begin your notebook and timelog for the project. Use the Eagle Scout Leadership Service Project Workbook to organize your work.Eagle Scout Leadership Service Project Workbook 2. Contact Eagle Project Coordinator and discuss your project. 3. Prepare your Eagle Project Proposal. Use the Eagle Scout Project Pre-approval Application Form from Troop 380 Website.Eagle Scout Project Pre-approval Application Form 4. Obtain signatures on Application Form from Organization Representative and Scoutmaster.

Step 4: Present your Eagle Project to Troop Committee 1. Contact Troop Committee Chairperson and get a date for your presentation to Troop Committee 2. Have your plan prepared including time, materials, cost, pictures / diagrams, and plans for including help from other scouts. Use the Eagle Scout Project Pre-approval Application FormEagle Scout Project Pre-approval Application Form 3. Project Application must be typed. Arrive with multiple copies to distribute to committee members 4. Receive recommendations from Troop Committee and modify your Project Plan as necessary. 5. Obtain signature on Application Form from Troop Committee Chair.

Step 5: Submit to District Advancement Chairperson  Use the Eagle Scout Project Pre- approval Application Form.Eagle Scout Project Pre- approval Application Form  Receive recommendations from Advancement Chairperson and modify your Project Plan as necessary.  Obtain signature on Application Form from District Advancement Chairperson.  DO NOT PROCEED TO NEXT STEP UNTIL YOU HAVE ALL REQUIRED SIGNATURES.

Step 6: Execute the Project  Schedule work sessions ahead of time.  Inform fellow scouts so they can help. Leading and coordinating the efforts of other scouts is a necessary requirement of every Eagle Project.  On your work days, be prepared to lead and direct the efforts of your workers. Don’t forget to feed your work crew!  Record work hours expended for all who participate.  Take pictures of progress made.

Step 7: Write your Eagle Project Final Report.  Include objective of project, who benefited.  Include material costs, deviations from original plan.  Include photographs of project (before and after, for example).  Include timelog of all hours expended (including your own hours).  Present all written material in a neat, 3-ring binder.  Do not just “fill in” the sections from the Eagle Scout Leadership Service Project WorkbookEagle Scout Leadership Service Project Workbook

Step 8: Project Approval – Submit your Report 1. Submit to your Eagle Project Coordinator for proofreading. Modify as necessary. 2. Submit to District Advancement Chairperson. Modify as necessary. Congratulations! You have completed the most difficult part of the Eagle Trail!

Step 1: Complete Eagle Requirements  21 merit badges, including all Eagle required badges.  Demonstrate that you live by the principles of the Scout Oath and Law in your daily life. Obtain reference letters (More on this later).  While a Life Scout, serve actively for a period of 6 months in a leadership position for the Troop.  COMPLETE YOUR EAGLE SERVICE PROJECT (see previous).  Take part in a Scoutmaster Conference. Submit a typed statement of your “Ambitions and Life Purposes”. Use form from Troop 380 Website.form

Step 2: Obtain 6 Eagle Reference Letters  References can be from: parents / guardians, teachers, religious leaders, employers, etc.  Use reference form from Troop 380 Website.form  Include a stamped mailing envelope to: Dr. Robert Flipse Troop 380 Advancement Chairperson 832 Hemlock St Boalsburg, PA 16827

Step 3:Fill out Eagle Scout Application FormEagle Scout Application Form  Obtain Signatures from: Scoutmaster Troop Committee Chairperson

Step 4: Submit all Documents to Juniata Valley Council  List of merit badges and rank advancements  Completed Eagle Project with signature from District Advancement Chair.  Completed (and signed) Eagle Scout Application  Description of Ambitions and Life Purposes

Step 5: Eagle Board of Review  Schedule Review with Scoutmaster / Advancement Chairperson  Documents to bring: Completed Eagle Project Report Description of Ambitions and Life Purposes Scout Book  Be prepared to discuss: Your Eagle Project Your Scouting Experience Your plans and hopes for the future. Congratulations! You have completed the requirements to receive the Eagle Rank from the Boy Scouts of America.
