PoppiesPoppiesPoppiesPoppies The reason why we wear poppies is because the English brought back some of the soldiers who died and buried them in the fields, and when all of the soldiers arrived home from the war all of the fields where full of poppies.

Remember Remembrance Sunday was initially a time to think about the soldiers who fought in World War One. But now it is a time to think about the soldiers who fought and died in World War One, World War Two and all the British soldiers who have ever fought in a war on Britain's side. In 1918 it was declared that the War should end on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. Remembrance Sunday is a time to stay still and quiet, a cannon sounds and everyone and everything stops what they are doing and they think of the soldiers that fought or are fighting in wars. When the cannon sounds again everyone can carry on with what they where doing.

When war was declared all the men between 16 and 40 were sent off to war. The English side had a very big Navy but their artillery side was not overly big. Most men were sent off to the trenches. They lived in poor conditions and they where always hungry for there was a lack of food. A lot of the soldiers were very young and did not realize what they were up against, a lot of them just thought it was a game and it would be cool to go out and fight in a war.

What We Do When the cannon sounds we all have to stop and think about all of the English soldiers who died in any war that England has fought. Many men died fighting for their country, if it wasn’t for them England would be a very different place. A lot of people lost their sons and husbands through greed.
