Operating Plan Global Communications Chapters Congress (GCCC) Global Communications Chapters Congress (GCCC) – The last GCCC was held in A total of 77 chapters out of 104 participated in a five day event at a cost of $225k. – We now have over 200 chapters. To hold a GCCC every fifth year we need to set aside a part of its overall budget every year. – GCCC in Atlanta in December 2013? – Given the geography of our regions perhaps we should have localized CCC (LCCC) in areas of strategic growth.

Operating Plan Global Representations on ComSoc BoG Global Representations on ComSoc BoG – For the first time a representative from the African Continent (Fambirai Takawira) and a representative from India (Neelesh Mehta) have been appointed. – Several appointed Directors are from the industrial sector with Global representation. – In 2012, we will have sixteen Board Members from USA, two from Canada, ten from Europe, Middle-East and Africa, two from Latin America and five from Asia/Pacific. – Should we revive the KICS plan, which while meeting Global representation, reduces the number of appointed directors.

These amounts are direct expenses only and do not include staff support Functional Benchmarking against other IEEE Societies

Improved Governance (Continued) The first time that nine of the 12 MALs get engaged in the governance of the Society is late May/Early June. How can we engage them earlier? The first time that nine of the 12 MALs get engaged in the governance of the Society is late May/Early June. How can we engage them earlier? Are we over governed and do we spend too much on governance. We need a new paradigm where governance compete with program development and execution? If we go to a three BoG meeting model, one possible option is: If we go to a three BoG meeting model, one possible option is: – BoG 1 in late February/Early March. The Management Retreat can be held a day before BoG1. The remaining two meetings could be as usual – with ICC and GLOBECOM.

Standard Activities as Outlined in ComSoc 2020 Strategic Plan ComSoc Should provide a broad range of services to the industry from pre-standardization activities through standards development and post-standardization activities including relevant educational product and services. ComSoc Should provide a broad range of services to the industry from pre-standardization activities through standards development and post-standardization activities including relevant educational product and services. ComSoc should facilitate pre-standardization activities in research projects organized by industry groups in partnership with ComSoc Technical Committees (TCs) for the purpose of identifying technology gaps and discovering early standardization opportunities.
