SA Amateur Soccer League Inc. Mission Statement To focus on our game, to develop and implement strategies for the recruitment and retention of referees for the future of the Amateur League and soccer in general.

Club Referee Policy CLUBS ROLE – both home and away clubs –Comply with the Club Referee Policy –Support the Club Referee and assist them in their duties –Encourage and support the impartial, consistent and objective decision making of the Club Referee –Ensure the home Club Referee wears the Orange Vest and I.D. provided when acting as Club Referee or Club Linesperson –Discourage unsporting behaviour and promote the spirit of FAIR PLAY – FAIR CONDUCT. –Report a serious breach of the Standards of Conduct to SAASL AMATEUR SOCCER REFEREE PROJECT - Building a valuable resource

Club Referee Policy – Key points Commences start of Season 2008 Affiliation Condition that Clubs comply with Club Referee Policy Nominations close – 1 st February 2008 – Training TBA Registration - Minimum Level 5 training for Season 2008 Current trained Club Referees are eligible but must be Registered Club Referee Vest and Photo I.D. provided by the SAASL Home Club to provide Club Referees to do Reserve fixtures if official Referee is not appointed (Linespersons to Senior fixture) No Registered Club Referee – Home team forfeits AMATEUR SOCCER REFEREE PROJECT - Building a valuable resource

Club Referee Policy – Key points Away club’s Club Referee can officiate a fixture by prior arrangement – match fee $45 to be paid by Home Club SAASL will cover the Level 5 & 4 training costs for Club Referees SAASL will pay the Club Referees the following match fees Level 5 – own home fixture - $25 per fixture Level 5 – away or other Division - $30 per fixture Level 4 – own home fixture - $40 per fixture Level 4 – away or other Division - $45 per fixture Level 4 – Traveling allowance for SAASL appointed fixtures AMATEUR SOCCER REFEREE PROJECT - Building a valuable resource

Club Referee Policy Incentives to promote and develop Club Referees Incentive #1 – Qualified Club Referees, currently on Level 5, who complete the training for Level 4 and continue to officiate for a full season as a Club Referee in the SAASL CLUB RECEIVES $200CLUB RECEIVES $200 Incentive #2 – Qualified Club Referees, who join the Amateur Referees Body and officiate for a full season in the SAASL as an official Referee, the Club and Referee will receive CLUB - $600 / CLUB REFEREE - $400CLUB - $600 / CLUB REFEREE - $400 AMATEUR SOCCER REFEREE PROJECT - Building a valuable resource

FAIR PLAY – FAIR CONDUCT FAIR PLAY – FAIR CONDUCT AMATEUR REFEREE PROJECT - Building a valuable resource SUMMARY The shortage of Referee numbers and working towards a solution is a responsibility that must be jointly accepted by both the SAASL and the Clubs. The SAASL will implement the strategies, provide the training, support and funding required, however, it is the Clubs that can only ensure the success of Referee recruitment and the future of Amateur Soccer.
