t.i.d. = three times a day q.i.d. = four times a day qd = daily NPO = nothing by mouth.

p.c. = after meals p.r.n. = as needed p.o. = by mouth q.h. = every hour

a.m. = morning ADLs = activities of daily living BP = blood pressure cc = cubic centimeter (same as ml)

CPR = cardiopulmonary resuscitation EMS = Emergency Medical Services mmHg = millimeters of mercury BR or br = bed rest

brp or BRP = bathroom privileges ASAP = as soon as possible BM = bowel movement CC = chief complaint

cl liq = clear liquids cm = centimeter DAT = diet as tolerated D/C = discontinue; discharge

DNR = do not resuscitate DOA = dead on arrival DOB = date of birth Dr. = doctor
