Footer Area New Jersey ▪Established in 1664 ▪Lord Berkeley and Sir George Carteret started the colony after being given land by the Duke of York. ▪They promised religious freedom and a representative government so it grew quickly. ▪Established for trades and profits. ▪Half of New Jersey is covered with coastal plains, there are also forests and beautiful streams. It lies near the Appalachian Mountains. ▪Large producer of many different grains and corn.

Footer Area New York ▪Founded in 1626 by Peter Minuit and others. ▪He bought the land for trading and industrial purposes. They traded wheat, flour barley and oats. ▪Considerable granted religious freedom. ▪There are coastal plains with rolling hills and mountains farther from the shore. It is located in the Appalachian Mountain range as well. ▪There is trade with agricultural goods and furs which is where most of their money comes from

Footer Area Delaware ▪Founded in 1638 by Peter Minuit and the New Sweden Company ▪It was founded for trade and profit ▪Delaware is mainly a coastal area. Two thirds of it borders the ocean. ▪It has a thriving economy which is based off of expand trade.

Footer Area Pennsylvania ▪Founded in 1682 by William Penn ▪Founded for the purpose of religious freedom, after William Penn was granted land from his father’s death ▪The region consist of woods which is what it is named after ▪Pennsylvania also contains mountains and valleys. ▪Prospered industries related to, iron, paper making, textile, and ship building. ▪Main Agriculture was wheat, corn, dairy, and cattle.

Footer Area Religion in the Middle Colonies ▪Religion played a role in getting people to come to the colonies. In each of the states, religious freedom is promised so it attracted many new settlers which helped to get the colonies started.

The Middle Colonies had a mild climate with warm summers and mild winters. The natural resources available for trade in the Middle Colonies included good farmland, timber, furs and coal. Iron ore was a particularly important natural resource. The Middle Colonies were the big food producing region that included corn and wheat and livestock including beef and pork.
